Research is a process

You might think that settling on a topic is the beginning of your research, while typing up your reference list is the end — but research seldom works like that. You may start out with one idea but end up in an entirely different place with an entirely different topic and that's fine. Research is an iterative process that will have you circling back from searching to writing to refining your topic and back again.

We've broken up the process into four steps:

  1. Searching
  2. Developing your topic
  3. Evaluating sources
  4. Citing sources
